Sidley

We are thrilled to announce that Sidley Austin LLP, a leading international law firm, have recently agreed to partner with Not Beyond Redemption. Sidley is training 50 of its lawyers (all volunteers) in aspects of Family and Criminal law which will enable us to take on up to 50 additional cases each year. The Sidley lawyers will work in teams of 4 with a supervising lawyer to oversee the cases. This huge boost to our resources means that we can increase our reach and help more women gain and maintain access to their children.

Akin Gump

We are delighted to announce our new relationship with the global law firm, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP. Akin Gump has provided us with a group of lawyers who will join us at clinics and take on cases on a pro bono basis.

With Akin Gump’s help, we are now able to expand our clinics to HMP Eastwood Park and give legal advice and representation to the mothers there to help them rebuild their maternal relationships.

“In light of the increasing impact on families and individuals of funding cuts to legal aid and key public services, we had for some time been looking for opportunities to assist families in need, and also additionally for projects focused upon the rehabilitation and reintegration of prisoners. Not Beyond Redemption presented a unique opportunity to support both these goals, and to provide meaningful practical help to incarcerated women, and their children and families affected by their imprisonment. We were impressed by the vision, care and commitment of Camilla and the team at Not Beyond Redemption; echoed in the unequivocal endorsement of their work by the FLBA, leading family law barristers’ chambers, and the President of the Family Division. We are delighted to be working alongside them.”- Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld

Thank you, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, for joining us on our journey to provide pro bono family law advice and representation to imprisoned mothers in the UK to ensure that no mother in prison loses access to her children.

We are delighted to announce our new partnership with global law firm, Morrison Foerster. Morrison Foerster lawyers will join us at clinics and take on select cases on a pro bono basis, in support of our mission to help the women rebuild their maternal relationships.

With Morrison Foerster’s help, we are now able to expand our clinics to HMP Peterborough and give legal advice and representation to the mothers there.

Thank you, Morrison Foerster, for joining us on our journey to provide pro bono family law advice and representation to imprisoned mothers in the UK.

Clyde & Co

Not Beyond Redemption is delighted to announce our new partnership with the global law firm, Clyde & Co. NBR is partnering with Clyde & Co’s Manchester office, who have provided us with forty pro bono lawyers. With their help, we will now be able to open a clinic at HMP Styal to provide the mothers there with free Family Law advice and representation to help rebuild and protect their relationships with their children.

Clyde & Co told us, “Clyde & Co is delighted to be working with Not Beyond Redemption to open a new pro bono advice clinic at HMP Styal. Both organisations are committed to access to justice for all and to improving life chances for children and young people. Our partnership will help mothers in prison in Manchester re-establish critical access to their children and empower them to achieve better long-term outcomes for themselves and their families. We are very much looking forward to working together to continue Not Beyond Redemption’s fantastic work”

In 2024, NBR partnered with Clyde & Co’s Bristol office to support the clinics at HMP Eastwood Park.

“We are delighted to be expanding our partnership with Not Beyond Redemption to support mothers at HMP Eastwood Park. Clyde & Co is committed to access to justice for all and to improving life chances for children and young people.  Our pro bono work with Not Beyond Redemption in HMP Styal over the past year has already helped women in Manchester re-establish critical access to their children and we look forward to working together to continue Not Beyond Redemption’s fantastic work in HMP Eastwood Park, Bristol.”

Thank you, Clyde & Co, for joining us on our journey to provide free Family Law advice and representation to imprisoned mothers in the UK.

Latham & Watkins

Not Beyond Redemption is delighted to announce our new partnership with global law firm Latham & Watkins. Forty-five lawyers from Latham & Watkins’ London office have volunteered their services to support our clients. With their help, we will be able to open a clinic at HMP Bronzefield, the largest women’s prison in Europe. By the end of August, we will be running clinics in over half of the female prisons in England.

We are honoured to have Latham & Watkins helping our clients. Their hard work and support will transform the lives of many mothers in prison.

“We are proud to be involved in this initiative and hope that the pro bono assistance we provide through the Bronzefield legal clinic will make a meaningful difference to the lives of the mothers and families who are in need”.

Simmons & Simmons

“Simmons & Simmons is proud to support Not Beyond Redemption with their work at HMP Eastwood Park. This collaboration aligns with our commitment to social impact and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the women there, helping them reconnect with their children and rebuild relationships. Not only is this important for the mothers’ well-being but also has a positive impact on their children. Being part of the pro bono team to provide hope and support to the women at HMP Eastwood Park is a privilege and we are lucky to work alongside the brilliant lawyers at NBR.”

DAC Beachcroft

“DAC Beachcroft is delighted to support Not Beyond Redemption by providing advice to women at HMP Eastwood Park in Bristol on maintaining contact with their children. There was a very strong response by our lawyers to this project, who were keen to volunteer pro bono legal support to the families involved. We very much hope this project will provide a life-changing impact, and we are proud to partner with Not Beyond Redemption.”

A&O Shearman

Not Beyond Redemption is delighted to announce our partnership with A&O Shearman. A&O Shearman has teamed up with NBR to provide legal support for mothers in prisons where we do not currently have an in-person clinic.  Presently, NBR hosts clinics in six prisons in England but takes referrals from a further six. Having a dedicated law firm to assist with these cases is an invaluable asset, ensuring we can extend our support to more mothers in urgent need of Family Law assistance.

We extend our deepest gratitude to A&O Shearman for their commitment to supporting mothers in prison.

“A&O Shearman is proud to support the work of Not Beyond Redemption with this project providing much needed family law support. This project is part of a wider strategy to try and provide more support to those with family law issues that have nowhere to turn since the extensive cuts to legal aid in this area.” Nina Garnham, Senior Pro Bono Lawyer, A&O Shearman
