We are delighted that Not Beyond Redemption (NBR) and our Founder, Camilla Baldwin, have been featured in The Times for our work in helping imprisoned mothers connect and rebuild relationships with their children.

Prisons in England and Wales are facing massive space shortages. The majority of women inmates are incarcerated for short sentences for non-violent crimes. A better approach would be for these women to serve community sentences, which would allow them to stay with their children and avoid the long-term negative impacts of imprisonment. Community sentences can also be more effective in rehabilitating women who have committed non-violent crimes.

We are pleased to hear that the government is considering these changes and hope they will be permanent. This will keep families together, reduce the burden on prisons, and make communities safer.
